Marquetry Display Cabinet

The pictures do not do this cabinet justice. I will replace these photos when I get a chance to have it done by a better photographer. The design was a long process. I knew I wanted to do the panels but coming up with a design that wasn’t modern as my Calder Cabinet but not purely figurative was a challenge. My wife and I finally landed on a geometric pattern for the middle panels and then evolved into the top and bottom panels you see here.

There are 5 different colors of veneer . The red you see in the panels and the handles are home made  from Manzanita that I cut on my band saw. Notice that there is no top to the cabinet. I felt that a top just didn’t go with the large gaps created by the legs.
